With more operators, programmers and attendees than in previous years, this year's Expo TEPAL started on Wednesday at the Hard Rock Hotel in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

Following the morning's first conferences, the event officially started in the afternoon, with a welcome lunch sponsored by Turner, in which Nicolás González Revilla, president of TEPAL, greeted all attendees.

"Attendance is greater and more varied. Between programmers and providers, there are over 150 people and 135 operators, along with all the main magazines and speakers," said González Revilla.
"All in all, this year we'll have over 500 attendees, which means we've grown 10% from last year," he said.

In his speech, TEPAL's president highlighted how busy the industry is, as it continues to grow on a yearly basis, always seeking for new services and added value to provide to its clients.

In addition, he pointed out the crucial moment the region's going through, especially the entertainment industry.

"In these times of crisis, Latin America is seen as a stable region with great growth potential; unlike any other region in the world. Who would have though? Our industry provides unique opportunities, with a market where penetration is low and there's room for growth," he said.

Following the inauguration speech, it came time to cut the ribbon, task performed by Tricom president Guillermo Soto and INDOTEL representative Yoneidi Castillo. The expo was then officially inaugurated and was busy from the start, as key industry players gathered at the venue and highlighted the high number of meetings.
