Presented a few days ago with a premiere date scheduled for 2013, Exposos is on the road to becoming the first pan-regional comedy in Spanish; a project Fox is developing to further innovate in the entertainment industry.

Unlike dramas, where the stories and idioms are more universal; comedy is a genre where series don't usually translate well to several regions. Yet, not afraid to face new challenges, Fox International Channels Latin America has set a goal to change this paradigm.

"The project came about as Fox, true to its nature, looked for something different and original for its viewers. Something that hasn't been seen before, that's not currently on the air on other networks," said Jorge Stamadianos, development VP at FIC, to ttv.
"So we asked ourselves: why not produce the first pan-regional comedy? It was something nobody dared to do before and the truth of the matter is, it was quite a challenge," he said.

According to the executive, the first step was finding a universal theme that appealed to all the different Latin American cultures. Love, family and relationships ended up being the right choice.

"After giving it much thought, we believed presenting traditional family issues from a comedic point of view was something everyone could understand and relate to," he explained.

Exposos tells the story of a couple, who after 20 years of marriage decides to get divorced. Yet, as they find themselves unable to sell their home, they're forced to continue living together with their children, a grandparent and the housekeeper.

Filming took place in Fox Telecolombia's studios in Bogota (Colombia) and the series is now ready for its premiere in 2013. The first season includes 13 one-hour episodes written by Susana Cardozo and Pablo Lago (Trátame bien, Lalola).

"We are very pleased with the outcome. People who've already seen the first episodes are very excited and we believe it will work beautifully. Our goal will be met," he concluded.
