Paraguay's pay TV arena is growing more diverse. The National Telecommunications Committee (Conatel) granted telecommunications company Claro a license to offer DTH services in the country. This same license was recently granted to Chilean company TuVes HD and telco Tigo.
These three new players will compete directly against cable operator Cablevision, the current leader in Paraguayan pay TV. Claro is also expecting a license to supply cable TV services from Conatel.
Claro is already providing pay TV services in several Latin American countries. It hasn't yet announced when it'll start providing these services to consumers in Paraguay.
