Amazon to Invest in Original Production?
The online shopping giant and Kindle creator is allegedly seeking to start producing original content, following in the footsteps of other online companies such as Hulu, Youtube and Netflix.

This statement is nothing but a rumor; yet US media states there is a very real possibility that Amazon will start producing original content soon, in the same way Hulu, Youtube and Netflix did.

It all started a few days ago when an Amazon executive named Joe Lewis posted his new position at the company in his Linkedin profile: VP of original production at Amazon Studios.

This seemingly irrelevant detail, along with two work proposals to other executive producers, was more than enough to give way to an array of speculation.

Original content production seems to be the next logical step in the company's strategy; a company that has been evolving consistently over the last few years, with new tables and apps, as well as online video platforms.

In addition, direct competitors such as Hulu and Netflix have already started investing in the field.

Considering Amazon's credentials -it's the leading online shopping site and the second best as far as tablets go-, odds seem to be in its favor.

According to GigaOm, Amazon intends to produce comedies and kids' programming through Amazon Studios.
