Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios (MGM) and VIP 2000 TV (VIP) announced a deal which grants VIP the rights to broadcast MGM's catalog in Argentina, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Uruguay and Panama.

This acquisition strengthens VIP's catalog ahead of the LA Screenings, where both companies will present the deal to clients across the 14 territories.

"It's a major step for VIP as an independent distributor," Roxana Rotundo, CEO at VIP, told ttv. "This proves each year we grow more and more, and are making decisions thinking about the long-term effects, working as independent distributors constantly growing and trying to build our clients' trust."

The deal includes the highly anticipated movie The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, produced by New Line and MGM scheduled for release in December; GI Joe: Retaliation, starring Bruce Willis and Dwayne "the rock" Johnson, which will hit theatres in the Summer; and Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters for Spring 2013. The deal also includes The Zookeeper and 21 Jump Street.

Other titles included in the agreement are classics re-edited in HD, such as Silence of the Lambs, Rain Man, The Thomas Crown Affair, Legally Blonde 2, Terminator and Conan The Destroyer.

"Due to Roxana and her team's excellent reputation, we are certain broadcast TV clients in these territories will be very satisfied," said Vinicio Espinosa, TV distribution VP at MGM.

Roxana and Rosalind Rotundo, international sales VP, will be present at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza (Suite 1722) to present the new titles.
