Everything's ready for a new LA Screenings to begin; one of the main tradeshows in TV, set to be held on May 15 through the 25 in Los Angeles, US.

Hollywood major studios have already been assigned their dates to present their new projects to broadcasters and advertisers for the 2012-2013 seasons, where they'll introduce the new pilots, movies and of course, showcase their content collections to distribute across the globe. All this, under one common denominator: highly creative stories and huge production budgets.

Meanwhile, independent producers -who will have their own "parallel screenings" on May 15 through the 19-, will take over the rooms and hallways at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, since the famous hotel will be the place for buyers and indies to meet and negotiate their future alliances and projects for the upcoming TV season.

The 2012 LA Screenings will also include international broadcasters, pay TV programmers and the popular OTT platforms, among other, which will be represented by their acquisitions, programming, production and co-production departments and executives. While several executives from Europe, Asia and the US are normally present at the LA Screenings; Latin America is usually the region with the most representatives at the event. Latin American companies will be in the hunt for projects from majors; analyzing the different genres, qualities, costs, rights and windows available, in order to have a better understanding of the current TV trends: which genres are successful, which formats work in what territories; and what type of stories are the most appealing for worldwide audiences and advertisers.

The content offer at the LA Screenings will be very assorted, since the audiovisual market currently includes all types of programming. From movies and TV series by major Hollywood studios, with great success across the globe; to independent producers' offers which include telenovelas, series, movies and miniseries, as well as all types of entertainment formats: realities, game-shows and talk-shows. The LA Screenings will also be the place to sign deals and initiate negotiations in regard to production and co-production, a business model which has become very popular in these present times.

The LA Screenings are therefore shaping up to be the ultimate market for distributors to attend, especially this 2012 edition which, according to statements from several companies interviewed by ttv; will be a "strategic year" in their expansion strategies.

Considering all the aforementioned elements; it's safe to say the TV industry is healthier than ever, especially as far as Latin America is concerned, where the economy has experienced a stable growth, making it the region with the highest potential at the event. The TV industry finds its strength in the advertising business, which has boosted its growth in the last decade. According to several reports, ad sales in Latin America are expected to grow an additional 7.3% each year, allowing linear and pay TV to become stronger. In addition, there's also a clear rise in OTT platforms' popularity.

All in all, the LA Screenings are expected to be very successful, with several deals signed and partnerships formed. Time will tell if the event lives up to the expectations.
