Budapest Opens its Doors

The Sofitel Chain Bridge Hotel in Hungary has opened its doors for NATPE Budapest, to welcome the 250 companies expected to attend the traditional market which focuses on Eastern European countries.

NATPE Budapest, the first event managed by Rod Perth.

In its first edition under its new name, NATPE Budapest, the market focused on the CEE region, began at the Sofitel Chain Bridge Hotel in Hungary.

Close to 250 companies are expected to attend, with an estimated 150 buyers, according to the organization.

While the event will not be that different to its previous editions, organized by Patrick Jucaud, it does include small changes that could eventually have an impact (either positive or negative) on the final outcome. NATPE Budapest will have three private screenings conducted by major studios, before and during the market. A move that might be considered risky if more movement inside the Sofitel hotel is what the company's looking for.

On Monday, the Warner Bros.' screenings took place, while Tuesday at 12:00 will be NBCUniversal International's turn, followed by CBS Studios International on Wednesday at 2:30 PM.

Still, this could be a good strategy, if it leads to an increase in the amount of buyers, which was down during previous markets.

With the experience gained at NATPE and other markets' results, NATPE Budapest will have a stronger online component and an app created specifically for this market, in order to help make networking more dynamic.

This will be Rod Perth's first market as president and CEO of NATPE, a role he was appointed to in replacement of Rick Feldman. It might be a sort of trial-run ahead of NATPE in Miami.
