After working hard in a project that took a little over a year, Sun Channel launched its HD network on July 13, which is now available on satellite NSS 806 and will be open from July 13 to September 18, 2012.
Last week, at Expo TEPAL, the network made its oficial debut. In order to find out more details about the new network, ttv spoke to Sun Channel's president, Héctor Bermúdez.
"At this year's TEPAL we are officially telling people the network is on the satellite and available until September, for all viewers to have a chance to see and evaluate it," he said.

"This is the main goal we wanted to accomplish with the HD channel. Now that it's on the satellite it's much easier to distribute it, since operators can now access it and find out what it's all about; compare the SD and HD versions and see they're not the same. I believe the network will appeal to viewers," he said.
According to the executive, the network's first few days have been successful, and they've experienced no technical difficulties.
"Changing our platform from MPEG2 to MPEG4, replacing the devices, and all the work we did has finally ended and there was a small margin for error. We finally made the transition and it was successful," he said.
As far as feedback goes, the executive stated it's been positive and people really notice the difference between both networks.
"Fortunately, we've had positive feedback. People like the network, see it's different and it's been great for us. People notice we made a great effort to offer a Sun Channel HD with different content," he said.
"We're already distributing the network in Dominican Republic, Argentina, Uruguay and Chile, and are being monitored in Mexico, Venezuela and Colombia, where we've negotiated," he said.
Lastly, Bermúdez described the new channel as "entertainment with touristic content," and he added: "That's where the main differential is; we managed to offer a high-quality, different product," he concluded.
