| Attraction Images, "We Are the Youngest Company with the Oldest Experience" |

Created through the alliance of three Attraction companies, a new brand was created a month ago in Quebec to produce and distribute original content, while searching for international co-production partners.

In late July, Canadian organization Attraction announced its independent producers Cirrus Communications, Bubbles Television and La Boîte de Prod were to merge and become Attraction Images; a single company that combined the experiences of all its members, thus becoming a stronger player in both the local and international arenas.
"We are the youngest company with the oldest experience in Quebec," said Josée Vallée, president of Attraction Images, during her interview with ttv at the company's facilities.

The new company's library comprises an array of titles, including fiction series, movies, documentaries and variety shows.
And what's Attraction Images main strength? Vallée says it best: while still adapting formats, the company is now focusing on creating original content. "I think local and international broadcasters know that, know about the quality of our productions. And also, we have a reputation of delivering what we promise."
THE SEARCH FOR CO-PRODUCTION The company is more than ready to disembark in Cannes in October, to present its latest products to the international market at this year's MIPCOM, while also focusing on its search for international co-production partners.
"It's harder and harder to finance fiction content, so we are trying to finance our projects internationally," she said. "I feel players in other countries are, now more than ever, willing to do co-production; so I think this is the new way Attraction Images will work."
BEST OF TWO WORLDS According to the executive, Canadian productions usually have 10% of the budget normally used in the US. So how do they make up for this disadvantage? The key is creativity, and Vallée knows there's plenty of it in Canada: "We are very good storytellers. I think that makes other people in the international market jealous since our writers are very strong."
And this is not Canada's only strength: "I believe in Canada we have the best of two worlds. Canada is Latin because we came from France, but we also come from the UK. So I think we have the best of both worlds," she said.
"We are clearly near the US. So our productions look American, but have a Latin and French style also. So they can be appealing for the whole world," he concluded.
