Pay TV giant BSkyB is launching its standalone internet TV service Now TV, to compete with similar services already present in the UK from other companies such as Amazon and Netflix.
Access to the service doesn't entail a subscription to BSkyB, and will set users back US$ 23 a month for the "Sky Movies" package, or just US$ 1.55 for each movie offered in the "pay & play" service.
Now TV's movie catalog will come from the Sky Movies collection, which includes over 600 titles from major Hollywood studios such as Disney, Fox, Paramount, Sony, Warner Bros. and Universal.

The "pay & play" service will offer more tan 1,000 movies, ranging from recent premieres to great classics. Once the payment is done, the client has 28 days to start viewing the movie and 48 hours to complete it.
"Now TV will bring more choices to UK consumers and an easy way to enjoy amazing movies instantly," Simon Creasey, director of Now TV, said. "Following the explosion in Internet-connected devices, we know that more and more people are looking for great content to watch over the web."
Now TV will be available on PCs, Apple's Mac computers, Android smartphones and iPhones and iPads, as well as the XBox later this summer.
