Among the six cable TV operators currently present in Montevideo, Uruguay; TCC is the only one which offers triple-play services through its product "3 de TCC" ("3 by TCC"). "This differential is very much appreciated by our clients. Over 25% of our clients choose it," Javier Ruete, GM at TCC, said to ttv.

LOCAL STRATEGY
In an industry that's extremely competitive and ever-changing; the search for differential strategies has always been key to develop a company's success. Thus, TCC has taken a series of strategic steps on a corporate level: "First of all, we re-defined ourselves as content distributors," he said. "We expanded our perspective and invested in offering content through several platforms, no longer limited to traditional cable."

In this process, TCC has focused mainly on developing strategic technological solutions generated by the company itself: "We have a diverse team of professionals who devote their time to improve our products' quality and provide solutions to the industry's common problems," he said.

The company will soon have a new service available called "TCC Sugerencias" ("TCC Suggestions"); a system through which its clients are suggested programs and events based on their tastes and preferences. "This solution is intended to put an end to the popular idea that 'there's nothing to watch on cable'… and is born from research we conduct periodically, through which we detect our clients' demands and new market trends," said Ruete.

TCC has also premiered products such as Multiview, a series of on-screen displays that allow viewers to watch up to 9 channels at the same time, divided by genre: cinema, sports, series, etc. "This allows faster and smoother zapping; one of pay TV subscribers' main demands," he said. In addition, the company developed the Home Premium system through which, by connecting their set-top-boxes to the internet, clients can view PPV premium content on all their TV sets.

"Re-defining ourselves as content distributors has also set the challenge of providing content to our clients through several platforms," he said. In fact, the company will soon provide access to its content through multiple platforms: "Libraries of online content, streaming, interactive apps and the possibility to record content on remote servers, are some of the new features we are currently developing to provide new experiences to our subscribers," he said.

REGIONAL STRATEGY
Part of the company's corporate expansion entailed making great investment to search for new markets to work on a level that the local market doesn't allow.

TCC has therefore generated a great know-how in product design and development, quality-enhancing services, technology adaptation, training and market research. "It allowed us to create an innovative model and become a referent in the region. Overseas, we are no longer viewed as a simple cable operator," he concluded.
