The public network lost over 200 million euros

The 204 million euros cut back from RTVE's budget have already affected the Spanish TV industry as La 1 is lost a large portion of its viewers and ceased to be the leader.

According to the last report by Barlovento Comunicación, Telecinco was the highest rated network in Spain in March, placing first over La 1.

Telecinco's market share reached 13.9%, towering over La 1's which was 12.8% in March.

Without Águila Roja and Cuéntame Cómo Pasó in its lineup, the public network lost its two strongest products. Despite the cutbacks, its newscasts are still the highest rated ones in Spain.

Telecinco has earned the top spot on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the afternoon, primetime and late night. Meanwhile, Antena 3 placed third and Cuatro towered over laSexta.

As far as TV consumption goes, viewers spent an average of 253 minutes a day watching TV.

Andalucía leads the rank with 269 minutes, while Galicia is the place with the least TV consumption with 214 minutes.
