Televisa announced it hired Spain's Audiovisual Rights Management Association (Egeda) to manage, administer and defend its intellectual property rights across the globe.

According to the deal signed between the companies, since January 1, 2012, Egeda is in charge of managing the Mexican company's intellectual property rights to fight against piracy and fraud.

The deal reinforces and expands Egeda's presence overseas, especially in Latin America, as an intellectual property rights defendant for producers, as well as fighting against piracy.

As one of the world's most important Spanish producers and distributors, Televisa produced close to 63,000 hours of original content for broadcast TV in 2011, and has four broadcast TV channels and 20 pay TV channels in Mexico alone. It distributed its content through Univision in the US.
