"We are very pleased with this deal with Venevision to offer the Miss Venezuela pageant in HD to all our subscribers," said Willard Tressel, GM at OnDIRECTV and DIRECTV HD. "I can't say who'll win the crown this year, but I can promise that DIRECTV's HD technology, in combination with these Venezuelan beauties, will produce a winning show."

DIRECTV will also broadcast the Miss Venezuela pageant through OnDIRECTV (#201), in all Latin American territories except Venezuela (where viewers will have access to the show through Venevision).

In addition, Venevision and DIRECTV will present a special sponsoring package with exclusive advertising to broadcast in HD during the pageant.

"The Miss Venezuela pageant is an international staple, a symbol of elegance and beauty in Latin America that's world-renowned. DIRECTV's commitment only proves this show has massive appeal," said César Díaz, sales VP at Venevision International.
