Luis Villanueva, president and CEO of SomosTV -a company focused on producing pay TV content for the Hispanic US and Puerto Rico- revealed that its channels VeneMovies and Semillitas expanded their distribution scope with agreements signed with Comcast, Verizon and Charter. These new deals have led the company into expanding its presence across Southern California and several Southern states in the US.

"We are very pleased about our channels' growth over the last quarter of 2010 and the beginning of 2011. These results have exceeded our expectations for this time of the year. VeneMovies was launched by Verizon FIOS and Charter Communications and Semillitas was brought to Southern Florida by Comcast. Charter followed suit in California and will soon venture into Louisiana and Tennessee," the executive said.

Luis Villanueva said he has high expectations for Semillitas, which is set to break into the Puerto Rico market. VeneMovies is already yielding very good results in that country.

VeneMovies is a film TV channel for contemporary movies originally produced in Spanish for Premium packages. Hispanic audiences in Puerto Rico and the US have welcomed the film channel, which is reporting even higher ratings than many channels in the US market. Semillitas is a cutting-edge animation channel focused on preserving the Spanish languages and Hispanic roots of children. It also aims at helping parents take care of their kids. Over 25% of the Hispanic population in the US is 0 to 5 years old, a percentage that climbs up to even over 50 % in several South-Western states (California, Arizona, Texas).

"Census forecasts have surpassed our expectations, in every category. In addition, an increasing purchase capacity and the importance Hispanics give to their origins and roots build up a very positive business landscape for the US Hispanic market. If we provide a first class product, we will capture the attention of an audience urging for good quality entertainment," Villanueva said.
