A few days ago, Aereo -Barry Diller's new online TV streaming service- was sued by several major broadcasters, as two federal lawsuits were filed against the company.

Aereo's intention to transmit TV broadcasts over the Internet allegedly goes against intellectual property laws, thus prompting broadcasters to take action against the service.

Diller, who invested over US$ 20.5 million in the company, stated the service is completely legit, while the streaming service's defendants stated that the company doesn't infringe broadcasters' copyrights, listing three major legal developments in its arguments.

Now, Barry Diller was asked by the court to sit for a videotaped deposition in the lawsuit against Aereo. Investors are also being asked to testify about their "consideration of, involvement in, and communications concerning Aereo", as well as its business plans and the possible impact of the service on broadcast TV networks and producers.

As broadcasters seek to find out more and take further action against the company, Aereo's future seems uncertain. Yet, time will tell who will come out on top in this battlefield.
