LG to Premiere Google TV in May

Google is teaming up with the major technology partner, as LG's connected TVs will feature Google TV starting May 21.

Despite being a created by an industry giant such as Google, Google TV hasn't been able to take off as most industry experts predicted it would, due to several issues such as the lack of set-top boxes suppliers and stiff competition from other companies such as Apple.

Yet, things seemed to be picking up when in January 2012, Google signed a deal with LG -the world's second largest TV manufacturer- at CES, to promote its TV business, where the companies presented the new LG Smart TV with Google TV.

Now, Reuters is reporting LG intends to launch a connected TV based on Google's platform in the US. Consumers in the US will be able to purchase the product on May 21. LG highlighted the fact that Google TV's Android-based user interface is easy to use, and stated they will evaluate the platform's performance in the US before taking it to Europe and Asia.

Following a disappointing first try back in 2010, when its first edition wasn't accepted by users, Google is now hoping to obtain success with Google TV's second version and make its way into the TV industry.
