Surface: Microsoft's New Tablet
 
The company announced the launch of a new product to compete with Apple and Samsung.

On June 18, Steve Ballmer, CEO at Microsoft, held a press conference to present the company's new product: Surface. It's a tablet, the first for the corporation, which will compete with Apple's popular iPad and Samsung's tablets; in a device that combines the company's software and hardware.

According to Ballmer, the tablet is part of a new family of devises Microsoft is currently developing. The product is allegedly going to have two versions: one with Intel processor and one with ARM Holdings processor.

One of the main characteristics in both versions is that the cover can be flipped and become a keyboard, in addition to the option of using it standing.

The tablet is 9.3mm thick, and has a Gorilla Glass 10'' screen, especially designed to view HD content.

The studies conducted by specialized consulting companies indicate tablet sales will allegedly triple in the next two years, surpassing traditional computers.
