Microsoft is allegedly about to launch a new Xbox, according to analyst Michael Pachter, known for his accurate predictions and vast knowledge of the industry.

It all started a few weeks ago, when Microsoft's confidential documents were leaked online, revealing the company's plans to launch a new Xbox, which would be called Xbox 720.

According to those documents, and Prachter himself, the new console would offer a TV service with a monthly fee for two years.

Thus, the price would be reduced to a mere US$99 a month, which would include a pay TV service, making the new console the center of your entertainment through internet and TV.

"I'm pretty confident that in the US Microsoft is going to partner with a cable TV provider, so I expect that the console will be priced like a smart phone. I expect you'll be paying US$99 for the console with a cable TV subscription," said Prachter.

"The console will have to be multiple purpose devices. The Xbox 720, this is my prediction, is going to be your television as well [as your game console]. You'll be able to tune into television through it," he added.

The Xbox 720 is shaping up to be a multi-media entertainment center.

"You wont need a 'smart TV' when you've got an Xbox 720, it will be your television and your internet. It's going to be open architecture and I think it's real trick will be that one Xbox will be able to display television to as many screens as you have in your possession. The next Xbox will be Windows for sure, and you'll be able to open up multiple TV channels in different windows and you'll use SmartGlass to shoot off different channels to how ever many screens you want. That is happening, that I'm certain of," he said.

If Microsoft is to go through with its plan, the new Xbox will be one more step towards "taking over" the TV industry, following its recent project Smartglass, an app that synchronizes TV with the console and mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones, revolutionizing the secondary screen concept.
