Since 2010, Canadian company Tricord Media is focusing on distributing, co-producing and financing family entertainment content, both TV and theatrical programming. Following a very successful 2011 due to its TV series' excellent performance; the company is now focusing on Latin America: "We are looking forward to meeting more people in South America to distribute their productions in Canada and the US," said Jan DiClemente, license sales director, to ttv.

FAMILY VALUES
Tricord Media seeks to always distribute content with strong family values: "We share the family orientation and having family-oriented programming, both in Latin America and Canada, together we can do a lot to reach out to families," said Katherine Lawler, finance manager at Tricord Media.

CONTENT PRODUCTION
The company also owns a TV network which airs the series they acquire, in addition to original products: "We can buy programming for our TV network; and we are also looking for co-productions," said DiClemente. Tricord is currently working closely with its independent producers to make sure the programming is aimed at the right audience.

"We like to work closely with our producers to help them get their productions to be really targeted to their audience. With Jan's background, we ask producers about the demographic and who they're trying to reach," said Lawler. According to the executive, this is a way for the company to have the best programming possible: "we are family-focused entertainment, but our programs are shot with incredible care and the production quality is outstanding," she said.

Meanwhile, Tricord Media also works as a non-profit organization through a media fund that provides financial support for independent producers to generate content. "In Canada we have an interesting media fund that helps independent producers fund their projects; we are very interested in helping to finance projects."

THE CATALOG
Tricord Media's catalog includes everything from entertainment shows to tween comedies: "We sell family movies; we have a large library of family movies," said DiClemente. This catalog also includes a reality series with George Foreman and a summer camp series for tweens; as well as The Nut Cracker -an entertainment show- and several documentaries.

DiClemente also stated this type of programs seems appropriate for the Latin American territory, and that they are also very interested in buying programming to sell on an international level: "This would benefit them greatly," she said.
